Hello everyone, yesterday I received 8gb of additional ram that I ordered, I installed and booted up the computer (it worked just fine) however the additional 8gb was not installed I then decided to move around some ram slots and there was no display, I moved my old ram back to its original spot and my computer would still not display any output.. I have took out the motherboards battery and replaced it in order to reset it however this doesn't seem to have helped, any idea on what I could have done/ how to fix it?

Solution
Have you looked in your motherboard manual for proper layout?
Some want them in slots a1 and a2, while some want them in a1 and b1.

Also on some newer boards removing the battery does not fully reset the bios, you need to move the jumper as per the manual.

Ah I can't check at the moment however I will go off memory for now. Intel i7 6700k 4.0ghz gtx 1070(doubt listing you is helpful) Asus z170 pro gaming, evga 750w supernova G2 the ram was crucial ddr4 2400mhz I believe? All I can remember currently

Well first thing is first, I would re-seat ram and GPU to make sure it is properly in socket.

How many ram sticks do you have now? Are they all from one kit, or bought individually, if individual what is the different models.
If going from 1 to 2 sticks of ram there is specific pair of slots you need to use on board.
Anytime you get separate stick or even 2 sets of ram there is always risk of incompatibility even if they are the same model.
