Could a failing SSD cause a PC to shut off?

So I've had a couple different issues recently. I brought my PC into a shop about 3 months back because my PC was losing monitor signal to one of my 3 monitors all the time. They told me I needed a new PSU, so they replace it, said they tested it for 24 hours under stress and never lost monitor signal to three they hook up. I take it home and 2 days later monitors shut off and I finally RMA'd the video card to make sure, got it back and hadn't had that issue at all anymore.

Now I'm having a problem where my PC just shuts off every once and a while. It's very random, it's only happened twice in a day once but it does happen every 2-3 days and the load does not matter. I checked the heat and there is no issue. About 2 weeks ago I finally did some windows updates and when I restarted my PC it got stuck on the loading windows screen no matter what I tried and couldn't get it go past that. It forced me to completely reformat my PC. So I reformat and reinstall essential programs and drivers. I then had my PC power off for the first time a couple days later. I download the Kingston HD tool that updates the firmware because it said it had 1% life, so I update the firmware and it now says that I have 22% remaining. I also seem to get my PC to hang up for about 30-40 seconds every once and awhile and Event Viewer reports that it has trouble writing file to C: and timed out.

So that points me to the PSU causing the power loss.
Just wanted to make clear that I did recently get a new PSU, I did have to reformat when PC failed to install windows update

Your SSD said it had 1% life left but after flashing is said it has 22%?!? This sounds like you SSD is on its last wobbly leg - replace it.
Do you have an extra spindle drive lying around? Reload your OS on the spindle drive and load essential programs and use the system. This is just to test whether it's the SSD drive resetting/failing (I had this happen on an old OCZ drive that I was using in an ESX box - not fun) that is causing the issue.
Alternately, you can 'borrow' a new SSD drive from your local store (buy - test - return).
