Hello,

So my friend has about a 80-100fps in wow on 10/10 settings. I have about 60-80 on 7/10 settings, same monitor/resolution same settings.

My setup:
32gb ddr4,
gtx 1070FE core @ 2050mhz mem 9k mhz
i5 6600 3.6ghz

His setup:
32gb ddr4,
gtx 1070MSI core @ 1800mhz mem 8k mhz
i5 6600k 4.0ghz

Now I wonder if this is because of his cpu being different?

What are each of your CPU core usages whilst playing? Or, temporarily lower your resolution to ~720p and watch your FPS there. If this framerates are still 'low' or CPU cores near 100%, you are CPU bound. Otherwise you are likely GPU bound.

Yes. WoW is a dual core game. The faster your cpu the more fps. Between 10/10 and 7/10 there is almost no performance difference since after 6/10 it just ups the graphics whilst barely increasing the load on the cpu.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from wybrem : "Nearly Same PC More fps Wow"

What is the FPS of your computer and their computer?

Same storage devices? Exact same ram?

What resolution is yours, and what is theirs?

What graphical settings do you play at, and they play at?

I wouldn't blame the CPU for this yet, given the little evidence provided.

Yes exact same ram, similar ssd. 3440x1440p both,. His computer mostly 100fps on 10/10 settings, mine ~80 on 7/10 settings

That simple 400 mhz can be night and day. On my old fx 8320 at 4 ghz I used to get an average of 55 fps but once I oc'd it to 5.2 ghz my fps went up to around the 80's (still crappy single core performance tho).
