Hi everyone! I'll try to be as much clear as I can !

My job is to install publicity LED signs. These signs come from China and it's kind of tricky.

To configure it I have to set an IP in my NIC that will be in the same subnet that the sign.

To communicate with the I need my network to be fonctional but here's the problem... Since there's no router, Windows try to find a gateway and, since he can't, all I get is Unknown Network... Then I can't connect to the sign...

The actual workaround is to bring a router up in the air with me in the sign.

There is also many other factors that I can't explain here but basically the way I work right now is the only way possible because of these factors...

So what I'd like to know is if there's a way to avoid Windows to do this Gateway availability check and just make my network fonctional ?

PS as you can see my first language isn't English but French so sorry for any mistakes !! :)

Thanks

Is the physical connection something like the following:

Laptop[Ethernet port] -----Ethernet cable ----->[Ethernet port] Sign

What subnet is the sign?

Appears to be that some Ad hoc network connection is being used to configure the sign.

Please try to provide some additional detail about the connections.

You should be able to go into your network adapter's configuration screens and set the subnet mask as necessary to match the sign.

Do you know what network adapter (NIC) is installed on your Windows system? What version of Windows are you using?
