My CPU slows down while playing games and wont ever hit and stay at max frequency. There's no way that its thermal throttling because i have a liquid cooler on it. processor is the AMD FX 8370 with a corsair liquid cooler. Please help this is driving me crazy

Also the AMD system monitor says that the temps don't ever rise above 49c.

It's an MSI 970 gaming, I've done some research and I think I need to position one of my fans over he heatsink on the bottom VRM as it seems to be overheating.

o I put a fan over the vrms amd they are not physically hot to the touch anymore while gaming. But the frequency dip still happens. I've messed with the bios all day yesterday turning off cool n quiet and putting windows in high performance mode. Nothing seems to be working

Using AMD Overdrive to check the thermal margins (distance to throttling) is much better, but your CPU probably doesn't overheat. Check the position of the SLOW_MODE switch (you can see it in a picture at http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/69124-msi-970-gaming-amd-am3-motherboard-review-4.html) and if it's correct, contact MSI to RMA your motherboard. It's a known issue with that motherboard that is quite good.

the SLOW_MODE switch is in the off position, this whole thing is so frustrating. Seems like it failed overnight to when it started happening. Is there a limit on the amount of time ive owned the MOBO for them to replace it? like does it have to be in a certain time frame?
