I have an old Inspiron 530. I recently installed a Core 2 Duo E8400 and 2gb more RAM (making it 4gb) to extend its life.
Now, when booting up, the first time I try I get stuck at a dim Microsoft Corporation Loading screen. If I try again it boots normally. I tried restoring to the oldest restore point but the PC just doen't boot at all then. I go back to the last working configuration, and same problem.
I wanted to reinstall Vista completely but I don't have a disc and I can't find an ISO for it.
Ideas?
EDIT: The BIOS wasn't updated and didn't have the correct microcodes for the new processors, causing the random crashes. I put back the old processor, updated BIOS, and then put in the new one.
