I have a question,

I am planning to build a Game PC, but i don't like to buy all the parts at once, because of financial reasons. Can i build the PC slowly? And in what order would be the best. I thought it would be the best to start (ofc) with the case, then the PSU and motherboard. Furthermore if it is possible to build is slowly, do you have any tips where I could store the PC, or doesn't that matter?
Thanks in advance,
Bas

PS. i don't know if i selected the right category.

Solution
If you plan on building this over a few months, there will likely be a few new cpu/gpu on the market by then and might also cause a price drop on current models, not a huge leap though.
I'd recommend saving money now and buying it later.
If you really want to buy now and like you have already made up your mind then i would suggest buying at least the gpu/cpu/mobo/ram together at the end to ensure compatibility.

Peace.

You cant test it if you buy slowly one by one. You need all the parts to work together, So instead of storing the PC components, why not save your money from which you are going to buy the components and when you have a sufficient budget for buying a gaming PC, buy all the components at a go.

Peace.

Thank you,
Yes i know the most parts,
Ofcourse some may change, but this is what I had in mind:

Motherboard - MSI Z170 Mortar
CPU - i7-6700K
GPU - GTX 1060 (6gb)
RAM - T-force 2x8gb
HDD 2 tb
SSD 250 gb
Case - LC power gaming 988B
CPU Fan - Coolermaster Hyper 212

Another advantage of saving first is by the time you have enough money the new 6 core i7's & i5's will be out, now this is speculation but its looking like the i5 8600k will at least perform as well as the 7700k or might even be slightly ahead for less money and the i7 8700k looks to be a beast. It looks like they will only work with 300 series motherboards so another reason not to buy now. Lets say you spend £1k over the next 3 months or £1k in Nov/Dec, doing the later will get you a much better system for the same money and as you cannot use the system until complete you are not seeing any benefits from buying piecemeal.

As for above build Id get a better cooler and do you know what PSU, you want a decent quality 500w.

Instead of spending the money on a part slowly save it up. If you take too longer prices will drop for the stuff you buy newer better things for the same price have launched,...

Just put the money away and buy it all at once. You also will have full use of the warranty on you pc since you could buy a broken part without knowing and once you get the pc the warranty has run out and you just waisted a lot of money on it.

The price drops are never that great when new tech releases, things just go out of stock. Completely agree waiting will get a much better build if he goes Coffee Lake.
