So i got an issue with my ram. i got two ram sticks, dual, they're exactly the same and they work perfectly. problem? out of hte 8gb of ram only 4 are usable. Why? these are the two ram slots from CPU-Z

I already tried to do the msconfig thing, the virtual memory one too so i dont really get what's the issue here. may be a slot that is not working properly? but i don't really get it since it picks up both, even CPU-Z says it.. If any of you can help me and tell me whats the issue here, i'd be so glad. i have windows 7 x68 bit Professional. maybe its a bios problem? if it is, please tell me what to do, i'd like to not buy a new mobo cause i just bought the ram + ssd, it costed me like 100$ so i don't really want to spend more, i'd prefer finding a solution. thank you in advance :)

Ok, so there you are, it's a hardware problem. Not sure exactly what the problem is, as your last reply isn't quite clear to me: i understand that, if you plug both RAM sticks, both are detected altough only 4 GB are usable. But if you only plug one of them...? What is it exactly, is it that one of the sticks is not recognized no matter in what slot you plug it? In that case you know that stick is defective; Or is it that no matter which stick you plug into one of the slots, it won't work? In this latter case, the motherboard is defective.
In any case, you have defective hardware: only solution for that is replacement. The motherboard is old, it's probably not under any sort of guarantee anymore. RAM, however, may carry a long (and even...

Windows tells me that. when i go into system propreties, it says 8gb ( Only 4gb usable ) And when i go into task manager and services, memory it says that 4096 is uses by bios. and i have a x64 os so thats not normal. as i said, it looks perfectly fine, i think its just a bios problem but i dont really know how to fix it

I got an ssd of 120gb and an hdd of 500gb

thank you for being so patient with me :D

Also, the taskmanager screenshot: https://prnt.sc/gfumx2

I speak french, not a problem.

I don't really see why you're getting this problem. The board should accept up to 16 GB of RAM, so does the 64 bits OS. Both RAM sticks are somewhat recognized by the BIOS (and hence by CPU-z). But indeed, the Windows property page says that only 4 GB are usable, that's quite strange.

You mention you did "the msconfig thing", do you mean this? http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/fix-the-maximum-amount-of-memory-usable-by-windows-7-64-bit/ It's worth checking it, in case you didn't.

Also, you mention you have "the latest BIOS (2013)". Latest BIOS is version 1603, is that the one you have? If not, i would recommend an update: https://www.asus.com/fr/Motherboards/M5A78LM_LX/HelpDesk_Download/

Searching the forums, i found this person having roughly the same problem you have: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/312675-30-installed-memory-usable
In the end, one of the RAM sticks was defective, and they discovered it by removing one of the sticks and booting with just one stick. One of the sticks worked fine, but the other didn't: can you try this? Maybe one of them is slightly defective, but still works enough to be recognized by the BIOS?

You may find a used board (or more RAM) on ebay or some local french store...

Hope i helped!

I tried using 4gb ram stick in each ram slot, only one slot picked it up, the other one didnt even let me boot. I dont really know anymore, dont feel like buying a new mobo for 50€.. i might just stick with 4gb of ram even tho i have 8

Nevermind, you are right. i literally get no stutters, i play playerunknownbattleground, really nice game but its badly optimized. used to stutter a lot and take time to load textures, but now i dont take any time i load instantly and no freezes/stutters, but still the game is reccomended at 6gb so some rare, really rare stutters happen from time to time, the ssd fixed everything basically, my hdd was pretty old so everything i used to play was laggy / stuttery
