I have a Toshiba Satellite C55 laptop and I opened it up last night to find that it would not open up past the lock screen. It doesn't respond to the keyboard or the mouse pad. I really need my laptop as I use it to produce music. My laptop runs Windows 8.1

Solution
I would try connecting a wired USB mouse and keyboard and see if you get any response. If not, your drivers for both your USB ports and keyboard and mouse pad are probably corrupted and I'm sorry but you'll have to reinstall Windows. You can back-up all of your files though if you take out the hard drive and place it in and external bay and connect it via USB to another computer and then you can access all of your files to back-up and then do the reformat.

Here's an external bay that I use and it's really a great tool:

Hope that helps!
