GTX 970 vs GTX 1080Ti

I am thinking of upgrading my gtx 970 to a 1080Ti, i have a good amount of knowledge of PC hardware but im just looking for some extra information as i am unable to find solid stats on comparison sites/videos. I am currently running at 1080p 60hz and i know it will be overkill, but i will be getting a 1440p 144hz in the near future. :) how much faster is the ti?

You are CHERRY PICKING results. I gave 1080p results that were AVERAGED over TWENTY GAMES.

That showed a GTX1080Ti beating a GTX1080 by 33%. At 1080p. (even the same CPU though slightly higher clock will SLIGHTLY affect the results.. doesn't affect the CONCLUSION though)

If most games were "CPU bound at 1080p" then there would be no point to a GTX1080Ti, but I've just proven that's wrong.

I hope that's clear now. You should always look at AVERAGE RESULTS not a couple games for this type of analysis.

Yeah ill be buying the 1440p monitor soon after it dont worry i wont be using a Ti with 1080p 60hz. I currently have a 4790k at 4.4ghz, 16gb 2133mhz ram along with a 750 watt bronze PSU.

Depending on the game you can get about 2.5X the FPS, or a lower FPS with better graphics etc.

Also, in my experience to have the best results if locking to 60FPS (i.e. 60Hz monitor VSYNC ON) you want the average FPS to be at least 80FPS to prevent dips (in which case you may want to force on ADAPTIVE VSYNC for the game).

OTHER:
I strongly recommend a GSYNC, IPS, 2560x1440, 144Hz monitor when you can afford it. GSYNC being most important, though I'm waiting for PRICES TO DROP. (and HDR screen too. sigh)
