Hello,

Currently I have a i5 3470 - RX480 8gb - 8gb RAM - 1 x SSD for OS and 1 x 2tb HDD.

Budget Range: £800 - £1000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Movies, internet.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: Will be a new build but I'll be keeping my case and HDD's, mouse and keyboard.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: anywhere UK based.

Location: UK, based in Gloucester

Parts Preferences: Would prefer Intel but may change to AMD if I'm convinced.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: MAX 3840x2160

Additional Comments: Would ideally love to game at 4K for the price but understand it's not the greatest budget. I can sell my current GPU if it's no longer going to suit my needs.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:

Lots of new games coming out and I want to play them on a high resolution first time round.

My build is quite old and I've just been upgrading it, it's doing me well, but I can see it stuggling with some games at 1080 with all features on.

Thanks for you time

On the cheaper scale & won't push max settings at 4k but will do somewhere between medium & high.

As king dranzer says above though , you can still pull £300 or so for a second hand 480 8gb which will get you a 1080ti in budget (although I think the ti is extortionately priced at the moment)

Re -ryzen , MORE than enough for 4k 60htz gaming.
The 1600 is the bang for buck chip though , the 1700 offers no extra benefit for gaming & is overkill for 99% of home users

Sell that RX480 GPU it is going for high price on ebay. That will cover the extra budget with ease.
If you already have a good quality case then you can skip it.

What PSU do you have please list it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wont be using my PSU as i think its only a 550w max anyway.

Is it worth going the extra and getting a 1080ti? Are the new Ryzens as good as intel? if i'm spending this amount i want to future proof it for a good few years.

Yeah i think i will sell the RX480 on ebay, they are selling for more than i brought the card for last year.

What would my options for intel CPU be? how would this compare to ryzen?

Ok thanks, I think after looking into Ryzen I will be going with this as I can save a bit of money for the graphics card.

As for the graphics card the price difference between a 1080 and 1080ti is quite big. Is it that much more powerful to warren the extra cash?
