so i realized i did a horrible thing when i decided to remove my hard drive plugs from hard drive they were stuck both powercable and sata cable

so one of my power connectors cable was loose and when bending all wires the hard drive got power so i used feviquick to stick the bend cable on the edge of socket but i think from the holes the excess feviquick got down to connectors and glued both cables faces on hard drive i wanted to know is there any way i can separate them without damaging the hard drive ?

please help, this includes one of my biggest mistake of my life as i am student and so it is my families money and we are not that rich so feels extremely bad for what i have done.

Feviquick is a cyanoacrylate so it will dissolve with acteone. Unfortunately so does PCB and most plastics so the trick is to use as little as possible. I would suggest an eye dropper and one drop to start. Don't let any liquid bleed around. Alternatively a small paint brush in the crack.

Heat it up with a hairdryer and use something grippy to constantly wiggle the cable (gently) until it comes of.
If the power connector was bad you could've simply destroyed the hard drive with what you did.

Yeah that was a bad call but I myself have gone MacGyver on my PC to fix something only to be sorry later so I get it. Your best bet is to get some remover for it...this is still a bad situation at best. Try to pull the hdd out of the case as much as you can. disconnect the cables you can from the motherboard and if your luck and have a modular PSU...from the PSU as well. Do this outside you case if possible or as stated as far out as you can get. Last thing you want is to get this remover on you motherboard or other compnonets. If this works and you can detach the drives without damage (I say 50/50 it works). Make sure you clean off all the chemical residue from both the glue and the remover. Use remover to get all the glue and let it dry. Then use distilled water to remove the Feviquick remover from the connections. This is a high risk to reward move. I wish you the best. No promises you won't damage your equipment so i can't be held responsible.

worth a try if the glue is gummy when it dries...if it is not and more like super glue and hard...my walk through would be better. I have never used that actual brand so i don't know which type of quick drying glue it is.

If it is cyanoacrylate, then acetone will cause it to soften and get gummy. I've never used acetone in a computer before though, so no idea on what it will do to the parts, you'd have to research that.

Acetone is found in SOME nail polish removers btw, read the label.

Yeah acetone will work but I wasn't sure of the effect on everything else so thus why i didn't mention it, least from what i looked up on the glue he used. Though the OP would still need to remove the acetone like I mentioned in the earlier post. Distilled water would again be ideal after it is dried.

thanks for your replies, when i applied the superglue i did that after connecting the connectors so the connectors are safe and the bodies got stuck so as for now everything is fine but something happens i will try nail polish remover as it has acetone i have it !
