New CPU required? i7 5820 and looking to upgrade

Hi, as someone with almost no experience on pc builds or hardware im looking for some advice:

I currently have a i7 5820K 3.30GHz but feel that it may be bottlenecking my EVGA GTX 1080 SC since it's a few years old.

I'm into esports at a high level and will be wanting to stream early next year, so I'd like to hit a stable 150-200fps on the following:

H1Z1 KotK
Rocket League
PUBG

I also have a Vive however running the VR on high fps is currently fine.

I was thinking of getting the AMD Ryzen 1800X AM4 since I can splash out a bit and go for maximum fps and performance.

Motherboard is an ASRock if this changes anything.

Is that cpu a good choice given the circumstances? Also is it compatable.

I'm not a genius on your chip, but I'm not sure that your chip is bottle necking your card. It seems like a fairly potent chip and I'm not sure the gpu tech has really eclipsed it...

If you're thinking that the 5820k is bottlenecking your GPU, it's because you're running single threaded applications, and the IPC needs a boost. Overclock the CPU to 4.5 or 4.6 and you'll see a big improvement, if not a complete removal of your "problem". Another thing to consider......get a higher resolution monitor. Higher resolutions take the pressure off of the CPU, and place the burden on the GPU.

As for the 1800X, or any Ryzen processor for that matter....IF, and that's a big if...the 5820k is ACTUALLY bottlenecking your GPU in the game(s) you're playing, the 1800X isn't going to solve that problem. They've got a weaker IPC than any of the broadwell E / Haswell E processors.

i have an i7 5820K 3.30GHz with a gtx 980 ti and i get an avg of 230-250 fps in rocket league and about 100-110 fps in pubg both games on ultra setting,1080p. SO i dont think that your cpu is bottlenecking sh*t!!!

That would depend on if he's running single or lightly threaded applications. For more heavily threaded applications, the stock clock on the 5820k should be fine for high end GPUs and 1080.
