[SOLVED]External Sound Card - Plugging in Headphones Disables Front Speakers

Greetings everyone,

I've just purchased an external sound card (Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro) so that i can get rid of the static noise on my 5.1 setup and have an alternative to plug in headphones, since the audio jacks on my S340 Elite are horrible.

I've successfully set up the speakers part (I'm sure they're connected correctly, deleted the old audio drivers (Realtek HD and Soundblaster H-Fi MB3)) and the audio was better than ever! However, when i plug in the headphone jack in the sound card, my front left and right speakers get muted, which means i won't be able to have both my speakers and headphones connected at the same time, which was the main idea. I thought i'd switch between audio streams through the control panel.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers and downgrading them, but nothing works. Connecting the headphone jack still disables both speakers and changes the Speaker Configuration option in the Audio Control Panel to Headphones instantly.

I hope some specs can help:

OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64
Motherboard: Gigabyte z97x Gaming-3
CPU: 4790K
GPU: MSI 1080 Ti
5.1 Speakers - Front left and right speakers are connected to the sound card via a splitter (that came in the packaging)
Headphones - Razer Kraken Pro
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro

I'd be infinitely grateful if you can help me.
Thank you!

Solution
If both the headset and speaker connection use 3.5mm plugs, then you need THIS . I use that setup on my system and can adjust volumes independantly and simultaneously.
You cant use like that whenever you plug the headphones the front speakers get muted what you can do is
as your front speakers are already plugged in there is another port i your sound card which is for rear speakers put headphones there
and there has to be option to fill speakers or something or surround

its creatinve sound card... is there option to uncheck mute speakers when headphones plugged it

Hi,

Thank you for your reply!

Plugging in my headphones in the rear output jack doesn't do the trick. There is also no option to disable mute to front speakers when the headphone jack is plugged in like in Realtek.
The main goal is to have my 5.1 system plugged in at the same time as the headphones and output 2 audio streams simultaneously or upon toggle - an option that existed in Realtek, but not in Creative Audio Control Panel.

Again, thank you!

I'll definitely try this if i don't find a tool to stop automatic speaker muting. Thank you!

I see, that's quite fine.

Thank you for the answer and the clarification. I guess i got too comfortable with my previous audio setup (having everything hooked up, toggling between streams through Realtek) and i didn't realize that plugging in headphones into an audio jack normally leads to muting the front speakers.
The new version of the drivers for the Soundblaster card no longer have the option to disable said muting.
I'll probably try your solution to this problem in the near future. Meanwhile, i'm marking your reply as the solution to this issue.
Thank you!
