DSL vs WAN on modem

I just built my house and we basically wanted internet before the house was finished. So when our ISP set up our internet, they used a LAN cable in our home, and then 'converted' it to DSL, and then had a splitter to go to our modem, and the other to our phone. The modem I have is a huawei hg659b, which has both a DSL and WAN input possibilities.

I now want to finalize the setup, and basically I was wondering if I can simply connect the LAN cable into the WAN, and have the internet working without needing to convert it DSL first?

Solution
You would have to keep it as it is now, as dsl.
Simple reason is that for communication to work, hardware on both ends of the cable must talk same language, LAN is not DSL.

Yes, modem likely supports input as dsl or through ethernet but in your case, it is best to stick with how it is now, it is the way it works. (and ethernet is limited to 95 meters on paper, will actually work as bit longer but I doubt that the switching station is in your backyard so ethernet will not work)
