Hello,

I have a Gigabyte GA-M68SM-S2L motherboard here with an X2 5200+ CPU and an Athlon X4 635 CPU.

Works perfectly with the X2 5200+ as expected.

When I put in the X4 635, it works perfectly too...however it's not pofficially supported on my BIOS version, hence the processor model is "unknown" in both the BIOS and Windows.

I need the F9G BIOS and I currently have F6.

The issue is, they're not QFLash BIOS's (to my knowledge). They're .exe's you run in windows. To make things worse they require a 32 bit of windows.

I've tried windows 7 32 bit and windows 8 32 bit respectively. Using any 64 bit version fo windows returns a message saying a 32 bit version is required.

With windows 7 32 bit on both the X2 5200+ and X4 635, the .exe just crashes (even when I run as an admin).

on Windows 8 32 bit, it runs, but closes itself within 2 seconds.

I've tried the F7 and F8 BIOS's too for comparison, all return the same issues.

Any Ideas?

If they can be used via QFlash what type of USB Stick do I require? I use FAT32 but the BIOS fails to recognise that in the QFlash utility.

UPDATE:

It's deteing my USB Stick in the FAT32 file format, I put the .F9G File on the stick as gigabyte's website instructed, when I try to access it via QFLASH it just gives me a bunch of options made up of random symbols, even though there's only 1 USB Stick plugged in with 1 file on it.........Some options have <DRIVE> next to them, others have <DIR>, any ideas? I will get a picture up later

I finally did it................

I fully "cleaned" my USB Stick via diskpart on Windows, converted it to an mbr partion type, created the new volume via disk management. Then copied everything from the extracted file onto it. Finally worked.....before "cleaning" it via diskpart, I did this and it never worked, kept recognising it weirdly and didn't it me do anything. I'm giving you this solution because you were the only one who answered, and what you said is true anyway haha
