Hi Everyone,

My PC closed down with Bluescreen a couple of times so I turned the overcooking off, but then I found going in my PC that my CPU heat sink had come slightly loose. Anyway, I did not know that OC makes voids the warranty of both the MB and the CPU until I mentioned this to Asus in correspondence about SDD's, and I was surprised because JJ of Asus sells his company's motherboards as being designed to safely overclock CPU's. So if you use the Asus AI Suite 3 to do the overcooking how safe is that, I don't want to lower the life of my MB and CPU? Also, as a precaution I can set the max temperature of the CPU so what do you believe a safe temperature to overclock would be. But just the same, this precaution should not be necessary as JJ says that Asus boards set safe limits with plenty of margin when OC is set up with the AI Suite 3. My CPU went to 5Ghz.

Some cpus might handle overclocking effortlessly for a decade, and some might die one month later; if you are victim to the latter, then you learn the risk element.

Some overclock in foolish fashion, aiming for arbitrary goals, and/or even just for the sake of overclocking 'status', even when playing in a 100% GPU bound game with no performance benefit gained from OC'd CPU whatsoever...

You will have to evaluate your cooling solution and temps yourself when undertaking risk to your $300+ dollar CPU...; most folks in forums are a tad more aggressive in overclocking advice with other people's CPUs that they are with their own.

If your temps are under control, and your system is stable, then enjoy it....the 4790K is aboutt as fast as...
