I bought this laptop off someone and I haven't had a laptop in along time, curious if these temps seem normal? It got to it's max on HWmonitor on borderlands 2.. Trying to figure out what's up, if I have some messed up drivers if I need to update bios or what. I upgraded to windows 10, I didn't wipe anything also curious if I should do that. He said he installed a new OS which looked like he did but saw some old files from before he "wiped" it. I've hardcore checked for maleware, RATS, everything and all is good. Now i'm thinking it's just drivers or OS, or even just how the laptops suppose to be. I see a lot of people with the same issues with the laptop. I can run blackdesert with 30 frames and less heat than borderlands 2.. If I missed any information I will respond quickly. Thank you :) http://

86C is getting up there but it is not necessarily out of the ballpark for a used machine. I would try cleaning the dust out with some compressed air as a first step.

Replacing the thermal compound is an option as well.

Tj max for your processor is 105C but it is not reccomended to operate above 80C. You are not too far off, especially for running a 3D game.

Well, the most it's gotten is 99c but like I said it was just that high due to borderlands 2. Black Desert online runs about 77c

99C is too high

You may need to look into replacing the thermal paste and cleaning out the dust. Are the fans running properly as far as you can tell?

Is your cooling policy set to "Active" in your Windows power plan?

Yes, the fans are working like they are suppose too. When it gets around 75-80c they really kick in (clean sounding fan) Also, it is set to active. I mean all I can really think of is thermal paste, doesn't that take awhile for laptops to settle?

Shouldn't take any longer I wouldn't think. Depends on the paste, some perform better after they thermal cycle a few times.

Okay, so I spent at least 2 hours taking it apart... This is not a laptop that is easily repaired :p I basically gave up when I couldn't get the motherboard out. Hooked it all back up, forgot to clip something in so it wouldn't power up, had to tear it down again to fix it.. for borderlands, for so me reason it was running at max CPU is why the lag/heat was coming, now it's around 70c (cpu) just by minimizing and unminimizing doesn't make much sense to me, but hey whatever :p I thank you for the help :)
