Graphics card won't make a click

Hi. I got a new graphics card and when I tried to install it in the slot it won't make a click, however - I can manually lock it into place by moving the "switch" or whatever it is called, and then it makes a clicking noise. The card seems to run well this way, been playing games and benchmarking. I am afraid that the card might get bent though down the road, do you think it's "unsafe" to have it like this? Maybe I am a bit paranoid but this card costs quite a lot.

Thanks!

If the graphics card is screwed down to the case, it probably wouldn't bend. Some motherboards don't have the automatic click feature, though those are very old ones and almost all new ones do produce a click. But if the GPU feels secure in the slot, and you have it screwed to the case, it should be fine.

Did you try pushing it in firmly, though?

My last card did click automatically if I remember correctly, so this is a little bit strange, but because of the fact that I can manually "lock" it into place would suggest that it is in place. I I don't wanna push it too hard because it might break something, not sure how much force can be applied. When I installed my new RAM quite a lot of force was required to lock them into place for some reason.

A little force is required, but not so much that you're putting your whole weight down on to the card. But yes, you may have to apply a little teeth-grinding force sometimes. But don't force it if it's not going in. If it's working, you might as well leave it alone.
