I'm trying to decide between getting a Ryzen 5 1600X paired with a Asus Prime X370-Pro or a Ryzen 7 1700 paired with a Asus Prime B350-Plus. These two bundles cost the exact same.

She does some graphic design and video editing. I'll probably use it as a secondary gaming sytem (i use a i7 for gaming). Definitely a work first system.

In either case, I will attempt to do some low voltage over clocking at or near stock volts.

My gut is leaning R7 1700/Prime B350 but I worry about 4+2 VRMs. The OC goal is basically 3.6 to 3.8 with volts in the range of 1.18 to 1.25ish....assuming the CPU it stable at those speeds/volts.

Should I sacrifice the 2c/4 threads to go with a R5 1600 X and the slightly beefier 6+2 Prime X370-Pro @ 3.7-3.8 Ghz...or trust that the Prime B350-plus can handle some Ryzen 7 1700 3.6-3.8ghz low voltage OC.

Talk about waiting to the last minute to get opinions...I'll be in the store this time tomorrow....lol.

Solution
I think you could use the B350 board with both CPU. I'm an Intel guy myself, but from what I have read in other threads here it seems the B350 is the most suggested board for Ryzen.

Ended up getting the R7 1700 with the Asus Strix B350-F Gaming. It cost $5 dollars more than the B350 Prime board. Hopefully I can get a modest 3.6 or 3.7 at around 1.2 volts and I'll be happy for what I (+wife) need out of this.
