Unable to remove gfx card from motherboard

Hi, so I was trying to remove my GFX-card from my MSI motherboard (b85m-e45). But after removing the screw I seem to be unable to push down the latch, even with quite a lot of power. And was wondering if I'm missing something. The other end of the card has now let go (after me trying to pull it upwards whilst pulling the latch down for like an hour), but by the latch, it's impossible to remove. Do I need to push down a latch on the other side, which I cannot see due to the gfxcard? Or should the one which is visible on one side be it. Now it's stuck and I'm unable to either remove it or put it back into place. And I understand I've probably put myself in an even worse position. Just wanna underline that I reeeeally tried pushing the latch down with quite a lot of force before thinking it might already be as far down as it could be and started pulling a bit.

Try pushing the card back in. You have to push down on the release before you try to pull it out.

It looks like it is just stuck.

When the card is fully installed all you have to do is push down (not hard) on the release. Push it towards the motherboard and the card should lift slightly.

I've tried pushing it back in, but it's not working sadly, I think it's too much strain on the part where it's stuck, so it can't really move. So it does seem to be stuck, yes, but it's like moving a mountain. And I'm sorry if I was a bit unclear in the OP, at first I did try to softly just press it down and pull it straight up. But nothing happened, it was as if the latch was already pushed all the way down, 'cuz it really wouldn't budge. So I gradually tried pressing the latch down harder and pulling harder. In the end I thought that it was just as far down as it could be, that's when I pulled and the right side started letting go, whilst the left side remain stuck.

If you pull too hard you are going to damage the motherboard.

Make sure it is fully fully seated before you try to move the lock. You likely pulled the locking part of the card up into the plastic when trying to remove it. You may want to get help from an extra set of hands.

If worse comes to worst I guess you could break the lock to get it out if it came down to that or ripping the PCIe slot off of the board.

Yeah... I realise that, and I think I've both pulled and pushed as much as could be expected and more, for it to come off. Regarding both pulling it upwards and pushing down the latch. Since it was working perfectly fine just when I disconnected it to begin with, I presumed it would be fully seated at the time where I began.

I guess the last resort will end up being something of it gets ruined to save the other. I just wanted to see if I was missing some key thing when removing it, since the latch really didn't wanna co-operate to begin with.

Nope, sounds like it either just doesn't want to come out or the locking mechanism got messed up somehow.

All you should have to do is push down on the lock and pull up on the card after it is released. There are other styles of lock that have a tab which slides to the side.
