If the Title isn't completely clear, I'm asking if i can use a windows 7 product key to install windows 10 on my computer but still keep 7 and 10 on the same hard drive. Or can only one Operating System be active at a time.

Solution

No.
You have one license. You can't use both.

You may possibly be able to Upgrade your Win 7 to 10. The actual Upgrade period expired over a year ago, but may reports says it still works.
But if you do, you don't get to continue using the old Win 7.

Try it and report your findings.
I'd be interested to know, if you succeed. ;)

(Theoretically windows 7 should get deactivated after this.)

Yeah you can use on one, but Windows is a lot more lenient with licences/activation than they used to be, probably out of necessity due to free period of win 10. They know people are going to need to reformat/reinstall. I think it will activate
