I have a Dell Optiplex 790 with I5 2400, 8G RAM, 2TB HHD, SSD. I use this for school and personal use. Yet thought it would be fun to play GTA V on here. I'm not a huge gamer and am not looking for the crispest picture. Yet would not bother if it is going to be lagging and just overall horrible quality. Any info would be awesome and appreciated. I have researched a bit, yet I am not that well informed or qualified to be swapping out parts or making decisions based on my own research. If more info is needed just ask. FYI it is a Mini Tower.

Ah well this is pretty troublesome, as the minimum requirement for the 1050ti is 300w

I think getting the 1050ti is a good option
But after that I suggest u lower the power limit a bit in order to prevent problem with the PSU, as constantly getting the wattage to the limit might endanger ur PC and even ur house :)

That or just get a new PSU, and then enjoy the new GPU :D, if u still had enough money though, u might want to consider 1060 3 Gb since u r changing ur PSU anyway (1060 3gb almost twice as better than the 1050ti, the i5 2400 should barely bottlenecks it)

i had almost exactly same spec as u (but mine is a DIY)
all ya had to do is update the mobo's BIOS so that it'll support the newest GPU
then install a 1050ti (or 1030 depending on how good is your PSU) and voila! it's a gaming rig :v

It is Intel HD graphics. This is where I have seen posts about swapping to a graphics card that will run it. I'm just not sure which graphics card to get, that will be compatible to my computer and run the game at a decent speed and quality. More detailed here: Intel Quad Core I5-2400 3.1GHz, 3MB Cache turbo up to 3.4GHz, Memory: 8GB DDR3 (PC3-12800). Hard Drive: 2TB 7200RPM SATA, 120GB SSD, Optical Drive: DVD-ROM, Graphics: Intel HD Graphics. That is what I know if you could point me in the right direction from here. Thanks for the fast response!

I believe my PSU is 265W from what I am reading on the supply in the tower. Says Total power 265W.

I can swap out my PSU and purchase the graphics card if that is what it takes. My question then, will this effect anything else in my tower. if it would take much more than this then I would pass on trying to turn this into a gaming PC. Just thought it would be fun to play.

As the other post indicated, a 1050 Ti would be a good option if your PSU can support it.

This may be informative https://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/227455-dell-optiplex-psu-supporting-a-gtx-1050-ti

I would refer to the others with similar systems as this link seems contradictory.
