Wi-Fi doesn’t have valid IP configuration on Windows 10

I recently was setting up a new laptop (ASUS Model R541U) and when it came to set up the wireless connection I decided to connect to my router by pushing the button on it instead of putting in the password (Not sure if this is important but figured it was worth mentioning)

After connecting it said my wifi was not connected to the internet so I ran a trouble shooter and it said my wifi did not have a valid IP configuration. I found this odd as all other devices in my house have been connected to this wifi without issue and the ethernet connection my computer has also has no problems. I am currently trying to fix it but I figured maybe someone here knows what I am doing wrong that can help me. Thank you for your time!

Out of curiosity, how many addresses is DHCP in your router configured to hand out, and approximately how many devices (wired and wireless) connect on a regular basis? I wonder if other devices (computers, phones, tablets, etc.) being powered down or out of wifi range frees up an IP address for your laptop from time to time.

How do I disconnect in a manner that it makes me try to input that information? I tried disconnecting and reconnecting but it just lets me through.

1. Click on the "wifi" icon on bottom right of task bar, and select "Network and Internet Settings"
2. Click on "Wifi" on the left panel of settings window.
3. Under "Wifi" heading in the middle, look for and select "Manage known networks" to reveal a list of networks know to your computer.
4. Click on the network in question to reveal a "Forget" button. Select it.

You should now be disconnected from the network.

Click on the "wifi" icon on bottom right of task bar again and select the network you want to connect to. Click on the now visible "Connect" button. It should prompt you for the password. Follow subsequent prompts.

Update it now says the problem is that the default gateway is not available and the original problem appeared as fixed but still no connection.

Change Power Saving Settings
1. Right-Click on the Battery icon (or the Windows Logo) and select Power Options
2. Click Change Plan Settings for the active power plan you’re using
3. Click Change Advanced Power Settings
4. Click the + to expand Wireless Adapter Settings
5. Click the + to expand Power Saving Mode
6. Change both On Battery and Plugged In to Maximum Performance
7. Click OK then Save Changes and restart your computer

If that doesn't help try using netshell Reset Command or a driver update.

Changes after the first thing you recommended didn't work. I am working on the websites solutions now just wanted to point out after doing the first one (netsh int ip reset) everything said ok but reseting said failed then access denied. This is with it running as admin and I am the only account on the laptop.

Yah I don't know anymore this problem is beyond inconsistent. The day I made this post it started working for the night then the next day same problem. I hooked up to wired connection to download about 3 hours worth of updates last night and it still did not work this morning. I went to another wifi network and everything worked fine I so I figured the problem was my wifi then I came back again and ran the diagnostics test and now it works again.
