Are the new Intel or Ryzen cpus worth upgrading to yet? Will I notice a difference?
I have aASRock Z75pro3, 32 gb ddr3, ssd drive for OS and one for games plus storage drives. I play games @4k @60hz with a Samsung 8500 tv.

yes u will notice the different when u upgrade from a 2nd gen to a 8th gen Intel, Ryzen overall single core speed are pretty much on par with 2nd/3rd gen Intel but they really gave u a bang in the buck, so i don't really think it's really worth it to jump into that leap yet, though u will notice some improvement here and there (8th gen had better single core speed, whilst Ryzen CPUs are all OCable, so u can exploit their potential)

however, if u still keen on keeping the whole thing (since u had a 32GB DDR3 there, would be a shame to just throw it away), an i7 2700k / even an i7 3770k if ur mobo also supports 3rd gen (better find used though), it'll easily last 2-5 years before any real changes is necessary :)

the i5 2500k is going to...

the i5 2500k is going to struggle since it is only a 4c/4t CPU, but overall performance u won't notice it unless the games are very demanding in terms of CPU usage [it's 4k though, even on normal games it's gonna strain pretty hard]

What's the 2500K running at? That was a godly chip for gamers. I'd keep it and significantly OC it. Have you gotten to know your 2500K? http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/265056-29-2600k-2500k-overclocking-guide will help in that regard and it will guide you to releasing the K potential.

I'd wait for coffee lake and see what it brings.

he already said it's running on 4.2
it's godly, yes, since it last even till now and still able to compete with the newer gen, however games nowdays with big maps and large texture would benefit from more threads where the i5 couldn't provide, also, higher resolution means the PC gonna load more thing meaning higher CPU usage, it could be pretty harsh on the CPU

You mean in the title? The huge bold print 4.2?

:D Thanks for that.

wait till coffee lake to get 4ghz 6c/6t i5's or 6c/12t i7's while getting substantial single core performance and benefit in gaming but if you want general more cpu power go with the ryzen for heavy multitasking and might be cheaper then newer intel offerings, but all in all a 4ghz quadcore cpu is pretty good and won't notice a difference unless you aiming for something specific.
