Hello everyone, I started playing the game PUBG recently and for some reason my cpu is going to the high 90s in usage. I have a 6600k overclocked to 4.4 at 1.25v, but still hits high usage. I run the game at 1440p at high settings other than foliage.
Should i upgrade to 6700k/7700k?
if so which one is better for the price, as the 6700k is cheaper.

Unless your telemetry is saying the CPU is at 100% at those times while GPU is not, then something else is causing that, could be bad code, could be your network, or any number of...

Who cares? Does the game play fine? Don't worry about it.

That game isn't fully optimized anyway, you may well swap in a 7700k to get 87% usage. Like I said, who cares.

I have recently have had complete stops in the game, and when driving the game can stutter.

I have been looking to get a new cpu anyway beacause i might start streaming the extra threads will help alot.

Which out of the two would u recommend the 7700k will still work with my motherboard I believe as it is the same socket.

Your 6600K should be just fine, i'm running a 6700K and usage is around 25-35% in-game and a maximum of 50% in the pre-game lobby when everyone is messing around at the start. This is also whilst recording 1080p 60 FPS on ReLive. Settings: 1080p, V-Sync disabled, View Distance + AA + Textures on Ultra, Effects on Medium and Shadows and Foliage on Low (Strategic advantage). So i'd recommend checking task manager for your idle usage to see if anything is hogging CPU that shouldn't be because PUBG alone shouldn't be punishing your i5 that hard on it's own in my experience. Especially not at 1440p with lower foliage settings.

Hope this helps :)

resolution and detail have nothing to do with it.

First thing I would do is delete and reinstall the game, on the off chance something is corrupted.
