will updating bios of the motherboard damage the motherboard?

No, if done correctly there is no negative impact on your hardware and it shouldn't affect warranty unless you managed to brick your board somehow. Not sure about that.
BIOS updates are not recommended unless you are having issues, as they can sometimes do more harm than good, but in terms of hardware damage there is no real concern.

will be fine--updating the bios wont affect anything since it seems it updated ok
if the ethernet disappeared after a windows update
its likely a driver issue not the bios
ie windows installed a new lan driver
go to lan adapter in device manager and use the roll back driver option

BIOS Updates are there for a reason. Usually to fix bugs or security in the BIOS. When ever i come across a PC I always make sure the BIOS is the latest. If it was an issue with warranty then I don't think they would release them. Even if you brick it I think they will still warranty it (It is fairly easy for them to replace the BIOS chip on a board). As far as life span goes that one I have never heard of before and i don't see any reason why it would shorten it. The only issue that a lot of people have is if you are doing Intel RAID though the BIOS you MUST do a BIOS backup of your settings BEFORE you upgrade otherwise you will lose your RAID settings and then it becomes more of an issue to fix.

the biggest risk with a bios update would be losing power half way through updating it
manufacturers always release bios updates
to fix issues
or to support new hardware etc
so people are meant to update the new bios if what it fixes or improves is relevant to them
