Gigabyte AX-370 Gaming motherboard
Ryzen 3 1200
Samsung 960 EVO M.2
Windows 7 and Ubuntu 17.04 dual boot

USB 3.1 and 3.0 are working but USB 2.0 front panel connectors are not working in Win 7. They work fine in Ubuntu.
I loaded Win 7 drivers for 3.1 and 3.0.
Device manager still shows error for 1 USB. Could not load driver to clear this error.

Ubuntu 17.04 is working great, quick install. Win 7 was a bear to get working.

I can't go to Win 10 because I need software for work that only runs on Win 7.

Thanks,
Barry

Solution
No problem. Yeah the M.2 SDDs are a huge upgrade from traditional HDDs let alone standard SSDs. Copy a GTA V game install on your PC in like 37 seconds!

Thanks all!

I had already downloaded and installed the new chipset driver before I posted the question:

mb_driver_chipset_am4-new.zip (2017/07/11)

I just recalled that there is an older version of the chipset driver on the Gigabyte website:

mb_driver_chipset_am4-new.zip (2017/02/20)

I downloaded this older file and ran setup and now everything is fine! Besides the USB 2.0 problem there were a few other device errors (PCIe) in Device Manager. These are all cured now and Device Manager is clean! Maybe I installed the various drivers out of order? It is interesting that the older chipset driver file is significantly larger (1.3 GB) than the new one (958 MB). Maybe the new one is only meant as an upgrade rather than a stand-alone driver set?

Thanks again for the quick responses. This thread can be marked as solved now.

It's possible that there may have been some mix-up in the drivers or some how the USB 2.0 drivers got corrupted for some given reason but sometimes reverting to the old drivers can fix the problem. Glad you were able to figure it out!

I think the fact that the newer driver is smaller than the older driver may have been just that, an upgrade rather than a full re-compiled version of the driver and may have been the reason why the newer driver wasn't working for you. It may have also been that you needed to download and install both the old and new driver for the USB 2.0 and PCIe drivers to now function with out errors in Device Manager.

I let you decide who gets Best Answer Barry. I'd give it to you but I think the original poster has select lol I'm fairly new to Tom's Hardware forums :)

Thanks!

I just ran setup for the new chipset driver file and now everything is current and working! The Ryzen 3 1200 with the Samsung NVMe is a huge improvement over my old system.
