I have been researching on what rgb strips can I use on my motherboard, the motherboard comes with 2 rgb headers, one called amd led header which is for the rgb on the wraith cooler for amd, and another one just called rgb header, they both look exactly the same.

I was planning on buying https://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-Multi-Color-Strips-Upgrade-PH-LEDKT-M1/dp/B00M0R2OTG/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t/ but I have no idea of that one will work.

Does anyone here have any experience regarding using rgb on their asrock board?

is that us dollars?

if so heres a phanteks twin strip set with the adapters included for near enough same price as your very first link--around 14 dollars--and yes its a standard 4 pin on the motherboard its just called different stuff by different board makers as each maker has their own software to control led strips--example aura--mystic light--etc...
and if you happen to have a phanteks case with the built in leds

it can also sync the built in leds to the strip as well

so my case leds my led strip and my motherboard leds

all do exactly the same colour/pattern at the same time

on an enthoo luxe case

thanks

have used those ones you linked in the past as dirt cheap on ebay

this is easier/tidier--no external power needed or controller etc

and way better quality it really is coated in very thick silicone/rubber much thicker than the cheap so called waterproof ones on ebay

Wait, so I only need the adapter? I mean I have an asrock motherboard with 1 amd led header and 1 rgb header. Why would an adapter made for asus work? I dont see any mention of asus on my manual which is for asrock motherboard. Im confused.

it should work fine on an asrock board--its got same standard 4 pin led connector

the 4 pin led motherboard connector is a standard type led connector

the phanteks strip has a non standard connector--the adapter changes it to standard 4 pin

originally the phanteks led strips were only aimed at owners of phanteks cases

but guess when people saw how good they were --and motherboards started having 4 pin led connectors on them they

decided to aim them at a bigger audience of buyers

edited---thats why the phanteks adapter has 3 connectors not 2

1 goes to motherboard

1 goes to led strip

and if you have a compatible phanteks case

the 3rd goes to the built in leds to sync everything together

Are there any other rgb strips that are easy to connect to my adapter? my budget for an rgb strip is about 10$. And If I need an adapter for me is a no go. My main issue is that there are many rgb strips to buy , but everyone just says, asus aura, or stuff like that. I dont even know if the connector on the motherboard is an standard or not .

Quick question, can I connect a 5v strip into the motherboard connector? even if its says up to 12v? will it damage the strip? or it will just mean that the rgb strip is not as bright as a 12v one??
