Are Hard Drives a bad idea for moving rigs?

I'm considering a couch gaming PC rig to replace my console, but eventually I also want to get a monitor and decent peripherals and I want to be able to unplug my PC and move it upstairs (as my desk is upstairs and my TV is downstairs) whenever I want a desk experience or big picture experience, but what I'm concerned about is if that is a bad idea for a traditional hard drive, and if SSDs would be a much better option for moving it around like that.

Consider this...
For the last 20 years, every single laptop made had a spinning HDD in it.
Laptops get moved ALL the time.

But yes, a SSD would be more stable and way faster.

Laptop hard drives (2.5" format) have a head arm lock which moves the read/write head arms into a parked position off the platters during shutdown. It's a built in protection for shock against dropping a laptop. I run a Seagate SSHD hybrid laptop drive as my Steam/GOG storage drive in my gaming PC. I took it over to a friend's house and put it on top of a table and his stupid dog knocked it over while powered up. I thought it was toast. I booted it back up and it ran fine.

All drives "park" heads when shut down, not just "laptop" drives. The difference is that for several years a lot of laptops have included gyro sensors and the OS can "park" the heads if a free-fall is detected while the laptop is on.
