Hi,

I'm building a RAID 1 NAS box with Synology DiskStation.

I'm not sure which drive to go with, due to the RPM. It's going to be used primarily for backups but I may stream some things from it to Roku.

I'm looking at the WDC Red NAS drives which are 5400 RPM and then WDC Gold drives which are 7200RPM.

Thanks in advance

Yes, probably the Gold.
But longevity is impossible to predict with a sample size of 2.

Just recognize that drives die eventually. ALL of them.
Prepare for that.

My NAS is a 4 x 4TB RAID 5. Seagate Ironwolf drives.
There is also a full weekly backup of that.

RAID 0 is the very antithesis of "backup".
Seriously.

You really need to back up and rethink this.
