Hi :)

I am currently a student studying 3d animation, and am in need of a desktop computer. Up until now I've been using a macbook pro (mostly for illustration), but now that I'm doing more 2d and 3d animation, it's really not working out. A desktop pc seems to be the way to go.

I want to build a pc for about $1500-2000. I can stretch to $2500 if I really need to, but am unsure how necessary that would be. Admittedly, I'm not super knowledgable on how much a decent build for my purposes costs. I need a keyboard, mouse, monitor and operating system as well.

Some software I'll be using:
Maya
ZBrush
Toon Boom Harmony
Adobe Creative Suite

I will primarily be using the computer for 3d modeling, animation and rendering, but will also be doing some 2d animation and illustration.

Oh, and I am in the US.

I hope that I covered all of the information needed! Thanks in advance. I'm pretty lost on my own, here. c':

So it took me awhile to get these together, but I think I nailed. I picked the very good 1700x for cpu with 8 cores and 16 threads it should be able to accommodate you in your professional needs. Fast storage is a much so a 500 gb ssd will do. 32 gb of ram is very handy for Maya and Cad. W8100 is the most expensive part of the build, but will increase performance way more than rest of the parts. The monitor covers srgb and is QHD. All in all its about $2400 give or take. If you need to reduce cost consider replacing gpu with w5100 for example.
