Hello. I am currently thinking about upgrading my PC soon. As of right now, I'm looking towards upgrading my processor from an AMD FX-8350 4GHz eight core to an i5-7600K. I'm a gamer, and I have seen in several topics over the internet that the i5 is significantly better in terms of gaming than the 8350. I would get the processor now except for one thing: what motherboard do I need to buy? I am well aware that my MSI 970 gaming can't support an i5-7600K and a GTX 1060 6GB. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate the help.

Current build:

Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming

Processor: AMD FX-8350 4GHz eight core

Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: 32GB DDR4

OS: Windows 10

Are you planning to overclock?

Generally, B250 chipset for stock clocks and Z270 for overclocking. Specific boards can be judged based on their VRM, cooling, headers, ports, and other features that you are wanting.

EDIT: B150 chipset boards should also work with a BIOS update, you would have to verify specifically

Yes, they are all compatible. You can choose based on other features.

IF you plan to overclock in the future you should look at Z270 boards instead.

EDIT: This is also true if you want to run more than one graphics card or have multiple chipset supported PCIe devices
