Hello and thank you to anyone who responds to my issue. I've had my self-built PC for about two years with the following ongoing problem and it has come to a breaking point for me. I have tried to do research on it, but have been unsuccessful in many attempts. Please help!
The main issue that I am having is that when I either turn the computer on or wake it up from sleep, it doesn't want to start up. To be more specific, the computer hardware turns on with the fans and everything running, but nothing appears on screen and no initial boot beep. I have to constantly restart it over and over again to get it to boot up. Sometimes random things will get it to work, like: unplugging the power cord and waiting for reset, removing and reinstalling the memory, and removing USB related peripherals. Also, most of the time when I finally do get it booted up, shortly after it just wants to shut back down.
I will try to list some other related information if it helps. I am happy to provide any additional information if needed.
-Sometimes at boot, a screen will come up stating "overclocking failed" and to go to the BIOS screen, but I don't have my CPU overclocked
-I have to wake it up from sleep using the power buttons. Clicking the mouse or keyboard results in the same running PC with no screen
-Sometimes at boot, the ASUS startup screen will come up and then the screen will go black and I have to wait at least 5 minutes or more for my home screen to appear
-When I finally do manage to get it booted up, it works perfectly fine
-Have tried: reinstalling Windows/different version of Windows, updating BIOS (says it's updated) and numerous other little things

Specs:
MB: ASUS 5ma97 LE R2
CPU: AMD FX-6300
MEM: GSKILL Ripjaws 2x4GB
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 760
PS: EVGA 600W Bronze
Windows 7 Ult

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried resetting the bios. I can give that a shot later today. Is there anything I need to worry about with that as far as losing data or programs being affected, anything like that? I'll look up some information on it to guide me through.

Also, I'm glad to hear you say you think it is something with the BIOS. I am considering upgrading my MB in the near future as I am disappointed in the quality of it and I would like to get a gaming quality one. I'm wondering if you feel this would be a good decision given my current problem or if I should continue looking into the problem before making the purchase?

Well it's not 100% certain it's a mobo or bios issue. Could be windows, or some setting for power management, hibernation/sleep and the cpu's support for it and so on. I don't know really at this point. But first suspicion would be bios so I'd recommend a reset since you already did an update. Reset shouldn't technically change anything, though for example if you had overclocked or changed voltages or sleep/boot settings and so on, that would all get reset and go back to default.
While I'm guessing you have other reasons for wanting a mobo upgrade, with regards to this issue, wait till we can see if anything else helps. It might be something unrelated.

Replying to an older post I made here. I don't know if anyone will see this.

So I might have narrowed down the problem. I have had similar results in the past like this. I recently decided to hook my PC up to a TV monitor and for the past 2 weeks I have not had any issues! YAY! But now the question is, why in the world would the choice of monitor have an effect like this? My old monitor is an ASUS PC monitor using HDMI and my new one is a Vizio 37" TV via HDMI.

Any help is appreciated. Perhaps something with my GPU or the PC monitor is bad?
