I built this pc a little over a year ago and ever since I got it my computer crashes randomly. At first I ignored it, but now it happens constantly. It usually happens when I try and load into a game, but sometimes it just happens when I'm using google chrome. The computer screen just goes black, and then it restarts. Furthermore, sometimes when I'm in game the screen goes black, the audio loops, and I'm just stuck there for a minute or two until it starts up again.

I'm not really good with computers, so I'd really appreciate help from someone. I just want to be able to use my computer to play games. I think I've downloaded all the right drivers and stuff, but I really don't know if I haven't downloaded something or if its something wrong with the hardware.

Solution
Easiest thing to check first? Remove power from rear of PSU

Drop back to only one stick of RAM in required slot (normally 2nd to right of CPU), retest for stability...if no change, remove power fully, retest with other stick in 2nd slot...

A weak PSU can cause a brownout as well....; if possible, borrow known good one of sufficient wattage from a friennd, and retest for stability...

Certainly a malfunctioning GPU can cause lockups as well...test yours in another rig if possible for stability...or borrow another Geforce of recent manufacture to test instead,....
