Ethernet port to cable router?

I have an ethernet jack in my room. I also have a Surfboard SBG6782-AC cable modem/router that I'm not using. Is there a way that I can run an ethernet cable to my cable router so I can hardwire my pc while simultaneously broadcasting a wifi signal in my room?

From that wall jack, what is at the other end of that? A regular router somewhere else in the house?

If so, sure. You can turn that Surfboard into an Access Point.
