Help me on building a low pc gaming AM3 socket system that can play CS go, dota 2 and LoL on medium settings without bottle necking. I don't know how to pick a good processor and a gpu for my motherboard. My system as of now is

ECS MCP61M-M3 v7.1
AthlonTM II x2 245 Processor 2.9ghz
GT220
Windows 7
8gb ram

It's not compatibility that's important, most GPUs will work with it, it's more about how far you have to go to make financial sense. Only up to GTX 750/1050 or AMD rx460/560 with 2 GB is not going to be grossly bottle-necked by rest of the system.
According to: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Support.aspx?DetailID=1139&CategoryID=-1&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=19&LanID=0
It could fit all Phenom II x6 processors which should be much better than that Athlon of yours. Failing to find one a Phenom II x4 965BE (although not in that list) would also be a good upgrade. Keep in mind that they are not produced any more for some years but even a second hand one could be a good deal. Modern CPUs don't die much or often, so if you find a safe and cheap place to buy one....
Another problem may be your GPU, it's really in deep end.

Athlon X4 640 with a GTX 460 lol

I'd kinda like the best Phenom II X6, but any suggestions are much appreciated

The Graphics card is PCIexpress, and I am leaning towards ATI again :)
