Hello all,

I am looking to purchase a desktop for my mom's birthday.

She only needs it for basic tasks such as web browsing, email, word and Youtube.

I know there are cheaper desktops available that would accomplish those tasks but I'd like to buy her a solid PC.

I've come across the following desktops and would like to know which would be the better choice:

or

Of course, if you know of or can link a better option for around the same price, that would be great as well.

Thanks in advance and have a great day!

I'd stay away from an All-in one. While it has a smaller footprint it also isn't user-serviceable. Let's assume it's 2 years later and something happens. The power supply dies. A new PSU can be easily purchased and installed. Many things can go wrong within a PC. Having a closed All in one is akin to a laptop.

You sound as if you might know a little about computers. The "gift" that keeps on giving. Anything happens and you can fix it. The All-in-one won't allow that freedom.

I would get a normal dekstop and then add a ssd which she is going to love the speed of (everything will feel extremely snappy). AIO's are only really a good idea if you really don't have the space for a pc but don't want a laptop.

I agree with the above answers. If you want you can just byt the PC and the monitor separate.
If find the Dell Inspiron Laptop to be a descent laptop for everyday needs including a descent processor which the Lenovo one doesn't have. Even though Pentium is descent I would recommend at least an i3. In comparison the Dell one is like the HP one without the monitor and keyboard. PC I would get her a nice 20-22"Inch Monitor like shown below.
Anyway the choice is yours.

PC: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-desktop-intel-core-i3-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-black/5775302.p?skuId=5775302

Monitor: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-20-7-led-fhd-monitor-black/5759501.p?skuId=5759501

Also most big stores have some refurbished older i5 setups with a i5 35xx or so in it. Then he could add a 250gb ssd and have a pc that flies for his mothers needs.
