On the 1st of September I finally upgraded my cheap Edifier R10U speakers:

to Genius SP-HF500A:

Ever since then my ear drums hurt. Is it because of the frequency? Are my ears not used to better sounding speakers even when I listen at low volume? Note that I've been using the cheap Edifier R10U speakers for over 5 years. I use my speakers for gaming so I listen to them at low volume. Will the pain go away eventually? Sorry for bad english.

That was a strange problem. But....

Does it still hurt if you dont play any sound at all? like no video, no games, no music. Just let the computer stay idle in desktop with the speakers turned on.
If you do this and still feel pain, try and touch the mid-range / bass element very very carefully on the middle cone and see if you can feel any vibration at all. For this you can turn up the volum to maybe find a hidden sound that can only be found if everything is in idle.

If this is the case and you sence the speaker move back and forth (does not matter the speed) then unplug them and test the speakers with a different computer and see if the problem is still there.

And we can take it from there.

I recently refunded them and bought myself headphones. However when I listen to them I get pain too. When I listen to my old speakers I feel no pain/fullness. Thats just bizzare. Headphones are called A4Tech HS-800
