Can I use a GTX 1050 ti with this power supply? (dell optiplex 9020)

I tried to do a quick search, and the 290W power supplies that I could find as original Dell models all seem to be able to put out all of that power on the 12V rail.

Actually, the stickers I keep seeing are 14A on the 12VA and 16A on 12VB. My math puts that at 360W available on the 12V rail, which is more than the power supply's total max of 290W.

The 1050Ti only pulls about 75W, maybe a few more under max load. This is not a problem for that power supply.

HOWEVER, I think SOME of the 1050Ti cards need a 6-pin power connector, which the Dell's power supply doesn't seem to have. That could be an issue, but you won't know until you get the card.

I'm gonna be buying it from people selling it in my country ( trusted apps and such) and so there's no telling whether or not it'll be low profile. They only put on the title "gtx 1050 ti" evga or msi or whatever. I just want to know if normal gtx 1050 ti's will fit. I mean, it IS a pretty big case xD.

I'll be looking out for the ones that don't need the power connectors then! Thanks a lot. Changing the power supply would've been a hassle and very pricey because the shipping and all that, but now I know it's fine. (I'm not that good at pc stuff, but I know how to do stuff) Again, thanks a bunch.

I can't remember, It's whatever the stock power supply was, sub 300 watts. The computer is also an i5.

Hey guys, I wanted to update you on the video card. I have since upgraded the 9020sff to an i7 4790 and that works well.
I bought my brother a 750ti that he installed in 9010sff (i5, pcie x16 slot) and noticed that his framrates in rocket leauge are better than mine (i7 gtx1050 in pcie x4 slot). Even though the internet says that the gtx1050 is not fast enough for it to matter I was a annoyed by this. I ran some heaven bench tests and tried to come with a solution.
My first idea was to get a pcie 16x riser and mount the video card outside of the case. After reading how many failures there are with those cables without buying the nice 3m branded one for $90 I decided I needed another solution.
It turns out the 9020sff only has 2 groups of cables that power the motherboard, even the drives are powered off of the motherboard.
My next idea was to run an external power supply which would leave me enough room to put this video card in the pcie x16 slot.
I found some extension cables for the power supply

I had to do some case cutting, but nothing too bad. Below is the album for the project.
The results are questionable, it appears in the heaven benchmark software I picked up very little (one test at ultra with techceleration, one at high without techceleration). However in playing rocket league gave me different results. Either that very little bit was just enough to show me an improvement or from the fps counter to me it looks like I picked up about 20fps.
Based on my benchmarks I would say this was not worth it, Based on rocketleauge I would say this was worth it.
I still have more games to play to get a solid feel for how this all went.
Either way I still wouldn't hesitate to buy an msi gtx1050 for for an optiplex 9020sff. Its enough of an improvement either way to warrant the $120 I paid for the card.

About two weeks ago I installed an EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1050 TI in my mini tower Optiplex 9020. It has a I7 processor and 16 GB ram. Otherwise it is stock. I had to move the SB sound card from the 1x slot to the 16x (wired as 4x) in order to make room for the video card since it is double thick. I moved the sound card first and made sure it was working before installing the video card. New drivers from NVIDIA - install went fine. I could not play the game Phoning Home with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600. Now I can play it on very high graphics setting. No issues with PSU so far. The only thing is that NVIDA and Firefox don't play well together. Based on info found online I used about:config and disabled WebGL. That seems to have taken care of the issues. Maybe a future driver will resolve problems.
