Hello Everyone.

I have a Samsung M3 Portable 1TB, which is USB 3.0 compatible.
I am using it with a Macbook Pro 15"2016, with an Apple USB-C to USB-A adaptor.

To transfer 360Gb of data, it's taking about 2 hours. I tried BlackMagic Disk Speed Test, and it it shows a read/write speed of about 55/55MB/s

With a Seagate Backup Plus Desktop 4TB, using the same cables, I managed to get about 160MB/s for writing speeds.

Does anyone have a clue of why my portable samsung M3 so slow?

Thanks!

Edit - The external HDD is formatted as MacOS Extended Journaled.

Solution
It might be the 5400 rpm laptop drive that is in it or it might be how full it is. Speeds drop as the heads work their way inwards. Don't be surprised if you see speeds as low as 30mb/s when really full.
