Hi,

I am from India looking to get a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU. I heard that the AM4 platform initially had ram issues. Have these issues been fixed completely? I am looking for a 2400 Mhz 8GB module to pair with a suitable AM4 motherboard. I was looking into the GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming 3 motherboard but most of the rams listed on the QVL are not available in my country. Is this motherboard good and will rams not included in the QVL work with it? I want the combo to work out of the box without tweaking the bios. Any suggestions on what combo I should get?

Hi martindaimari08 :)

Many RAM combinations do not initially work on the AM4 platform and requires Bios changes to Primary Timings and voltage. First you would have to update your Bios and select a RAM kit that is listed on the MB QVL for a better chance that they will work. Bios updates are still ongoing with all MB manufacturers on the AM4 platform.

The GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming 3 MB supports dual channel DDR4 modules from 2133MHz up to 3200MHz.
Anything above 2400Mhz are considered OC RAM which would require manual Bios changes.

I suggest a 16GB kit 2x8 at 2400MHz for best performance. A single 8GB module will only provide single channel performance.

Whatever you choose, ensure you can return the kit if they do not work with the MB...

Thank you. Are you aware of any 2400 MHz RAM that you used out of the box with the motherboard I mentioned?

There is no guarantee that a specific kit will work out of the box.
I do not have that MB. Mine is the Crosshair VI Hero and I use Corsair Dominators at 3000MHz. I have had to manually adjust my DRAM parameters and best results were 2933MHz.

I would recommend the following that have been tested and are listed on the GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming 3 MB QVL, if you can get them.

CORSAIR CMD16GX4M4A2400C14 using Samsung chips.
G.SKILL F4-2400C15Q-16GRR
