Hey, guys.

So I have a set of Creative 2.1 Speakers with a Sub. First one speaker stopped working and now the other too. I think the problem is not in the speakers themselves but in the circuit embedded in the subwoofer where the speaker wires connect.

I don't know how to fix it but I don't wanna throw them away either. So is there a way to simply bypass the sub and connect the 2 speakers together through a 3.5mm cable. I have the idea that I'll need to cut the current RCA connector on the cables the speakers have and replace with the 3.5mm. But is this plausible? Will the speakers need power from the socket now that the woofer is gone?

I'm comfortable with wires and soldering, although not very proficient.

No. The "circuit embedded in the subwoofer" is the amplifier. You have to replace that part for them to work with a 3.5mm audio output port.
