Hello, im about to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 setup which will be like this more or less:

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3
GPU: MSI R9 280x 3G
PSU: Rosewill Hive 750w
RAM: Ripjaws V Series 16gb (2x8gb) 3200 Mhz C16 DDR4 or Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8gb) 3200 Mhz C16 DDR4

now, my questions are:

1) with this PSU and MOBO its enough and possible to Overlock my Ryzen to 3.8 or 3.9 ghz and the RAM to 3200 Mhz? i heard many things about MOBO being the key to reach those overclock numbers so thats why i decided to go for that gaming 3 mobo instead of a cheaper one since i have seen many ppl reaching 3.8 and 3.9 ghz with this mobo

2) which RAM is better to reach 3200 mhz? i have read more ppl using corsair vengeance reaching 3200 mhz than ripjaws thats why i have not decided yet which one to buy since i have read that more mhz rams benefit ryzen cpu architecture

thanks and regards :)

If the ram is rated @ 3200 than it will hit 3200, but you have to set it in the bios, don't worry this isnt a difficult change.

As far as overclocking the cpu, you are thinking about overclocking incorrectly. Before overclocking you have to remember that it isn't an exact science and that the cpu you buy may not even be able to reach your target number, there is a reason why AMD locked the cpus where they did. That being said most people can get to 3.8 and 3.9 relatively stable, but this may take you some time.
Now onto the Power supply, it is only rated at 80+ bronze, which while acceptable and would probably serve you fine I recommend that you go with a gold rated one or better. In specific I personally use the EVGA superNOVA 750w 80+ gold. this being said, you should go with around a600-650w psu, save yourself the money on the wattage of the powersupply.
I would also recommend that you re evaluate your build just a little bit, you are spending way too much on RAM and not enough on the GPU, I would go with a cheaper form of ram like hyperx fury, but that gpu is really old at this point, and you may be able to find a cheaper gtx 1060 or an rx 480, and get much more performance. go hunting on this, trust me, a little bit of time searching will make the rig much better.
Another option you could do is replace the ryzen 7 with a ryzen 5. If you are planning to game, you really dont need the ryzen 7. so you could save some money there. Ryzen 5 competes with i5s and ryzen 7 competes with i7s. and take it from an i7 user, for gaming, I don't need the i7, but I needed it for extensive video editing.

if you have any questions, I would be happy to oblige.

i plan to upgrade the GPU after this upgrade, same for the PSU and maybe another x2 rams, so i can reach at least 3.6 and 3.7 without issues with this psu? then after upgrading the psu i can try 3.8 or 3.9? i plan to go for ryzen 7 since i want to try to stream :D

thanks a lot for ur answer

edit: about the ram i ask which of those 2 to buy because i have read that there is some problem between the ram and the bios or the mobo with ryzen or something like that, i dont know... so since i have seen more ppl using vengeance and reaching 3200 then idk if i should choose them, i like more how ripjaws look xD

You are probably going to need an aftermarket cooler for the 1700 past 3.7GHz mate.

I took mine upto 3.8 on the stock wraith but temps were way too toasty for my liking (80c+ under stress testing)

The ryzen 1600 is manageable upto 4GHz on the stock cooler but the ryzen 7's are a bit too much.

Vengeance & gskill 3200 cas 16 use the same hynix flash band so there really isn't any difference.

Anything rated 3200 cas 14 is Samsung b-die & is more compatible for higher speeds

Patriot viper eliter 3200 cas 16 is also Samsung b-die as far as I know

Irregardless , in all honesty for 99% of people as long as you hit 2666mhz then its going to be fast enough as long as you're not running a 100htz+ screen with a top tier GPU.

yeah i plan to buy a noctua too in the next upgrade, so with this psu and stock cooler i should stay with 3.5 or 3.6 ghz

about the ram, i have read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5xjmau/ryzens_data_fabric_is_locked_12_ram_speed_faster/ and watched this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOsYOASddeo so i think 3200 mhz is really a good choice to do but since i heard there were problems with some rams not working at 3200 with some bios thats why i ask this kind of questions, the difference between c16 and c14 is really that big? or does c14 since its samsung b-die it works better with am4 mobos and ryzen? the difference between a c16 and c14 is around 50-60$

Yes, the difference between the c14 and c16 is largely whether the ram will work at 3200mhz or 2933mhz.
AM4 is really finicky for some reason.

I wouldn't.... use that PSU though, it's not super great for an OCing system, high wattage but low quality.

well.. i will try to buy the G.Skill F4-3200C14D-16GFX rams, Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 cooler and Corsair RM1000x psu, now 2 questions:

1) is this psu good enough? i mean since i plan to upgrade gpu later and do some overclock on cpu and maybe sli in the future (to keep the pc updated) or should i move to a evga supernova instead?

2) is there a way to know if there is enough space for the cpu cooler and the rams (using all 4 slots)? since i dont want the cpu cooler to be above of 1 of the slots so i will be able to use only 2 slots instead of 4 D:

so its better to sell the gpu and buy a better one instead of doing sli, good to know... 650w is enough for cpu overclock (3.8+ ghz), ram overclock (3200+ mhz) and maybe single gpu overclock (in case i dont do sli)?

ok, i will go for the RM750x, so back to the subject, basically the RAM reaching 3200 mhz depends of the architecture of the RAM, they have to be c14 and be Samsung b-die, it does not depend of the cpu or mobo right? so the Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3 is more than enough?

what i have to do or which model i have to buy to get everything to work as they suppose to since if i buy a 3200 mhz ram and it does not reach 3200 mhz then i buy a 2400 mhz for half the price lol
