Hey guys,

Can someone tell me if it's possible to update a bios with another cpu then the one that was supposed to be used ? See I have a B350 Tomahawk from Msi and a Ryzen 1500x and the problem is though everything should be perfectly compatible, but I've made some research and I had to update my bios to another version. But without cpu it's impossible. So I wonderd if I could put another am4 cpu in it to update to the required version for my Ryxen1500x ? I found a cheap am4 cpu for 60 bucks, will it work ? I've worked my ass off to be able to pay my parts of and I really be pleased if someone could help me

Thanks

the only requirement for the CPU is that the BIOS see it. the board must POST to flash the BIOS. Power On Self Test. one of the POST tests is the CPU.
as long as the system will post with the CPU you can flash the BIOS with it. once the BIOS is flashed the new CPU should work and you can simply swap the chips and use the newly supported CPU.
hope this helps
