Newly built PC boots but no beep or display

So I just built an office PC for my mom because her store bought one basically failed on her. Here's the list of components I have used.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nVP8VY

So assembled the PC and I thought I had everything set (I'm not 100% sure if all the front panel and PSU cables went where they should but I think I got them in the right place). It took a while fumbling around with getting the motherboard to fit on the standoffs and fit the IO plate, as well as a few other things I had to tinker with before I could get things plugged in. The mobo still doesn't like..."properly fit" the IO...like I can plug stuff into it, but it's sliiiightly out of place but I didn't know that would be an issue. However, when I went to try to boot up the PC, no display showed up no matter how long I waited. The system powers on and I can see the CPU fan and GPU fans spinning and there's a green light on the mobo that stays on. My monitor recognizes that something is plugged in (because otherwise it would show the "no signal detected") but the screen remains blank. I also never got a beep sound which is something I think you're supposed to hear as a way of the computer saying it checked all the components?

I can't seem to get the display to show up and I've tried reseating the RAM in the same slot, different slots, reseating the GPU, but that's about it. However, when I was installing the CPU and cooler, I put the cooler on but then took it back off after a minute or so because I thought I put it on the wrong way. At this point, the paste had already stuck to the CPU so it came off with the cooler. I was able to separate the CPU from the cooler by pulling fairly hard on it, but I think I might've damaged it because I looked at the pins after I separated the CPU and I noticed that one of the pins were ever so slightly bent. I googled around a little bit to see if a bent pin would like make the system explode or something, but eventually I went ahead and reseated the CPU and cooler and tried booting again to the same result of everything powering on but no display.

I'm not sure if the CPU pin issue is why the display is not showing/not beeping when I boot, but is there any way to check if the CPU is indeed the issue or if it is something else I need to do?

**also I'm pretty sure the GPU in this build doesn't require anything connected to it like a 6-pin cable right? I only have this GPU in the first place because my mobo didn't have onboard graphics, so I bought one of the cheapest GPU's I could find.

EDIT: I also forgot to state that I can't seem to get the stock cooler for the FX-6300 off because the latches are really tight or something. Just wanted to state that in case that might mean the cooler or CPU is seated incorrectly? (fan still spins though when I try to boot)

As per the CPU support list: https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/HelpDesk_CPU/
The FX6300 was supported as of BIOS 1006.

Not sure what BIOS revision the board would've shipped with but, given there are Athlon X2's etc supported from Rev. 0208, I'd expect that was BIOS release #1.

How do you update your BIOS? With a...

Could be a couple of things:

1. Does the motherboard have the latest BIOS revision to support the FX6300?

2. The IO shield could be shorting something on the board (unlikely though, as you'd see reboots there).

Yes, that GPU is powered solely from the PCIe slot.

As for the cooler, that doesn't sound right - and may be part of the problem.

I'd suspect you just don't have a BIOS revision on the motherboard to support the FX chip.

Yeah, I got some feedback on forums about that being a potential issue because PC Part Picker said my mobo might need a BIOS update to support Vishera CPU's. But some people on the forums (and things I've googled) say that the R2.0 version should be able to support the CPU right out of the box.

So what should I do...? / How would I go about getting a BIOS revision to support the chip?

Somebody please help :( .... I've retried everything... I reseated the mobo on the standoffs, straightened the few bent pins on the CPU and reseated it, put the CPU cooler back in, reseated RAM, GPU, basically retried everything and the PC will still not display anything. It turns on and all the components' fans and the green standby power LED light is on.

Has it ever cut on properly? I have been having the same problem but only after trying to overclock the CPU and change the RAM timings. Sometimes it won't cutoff and sometimes it won't boot or post but the lights and fans come on with a black screen. I usually try to get it back on once or twice like normal but if it still won't display I cut off the power switch, pull the cord, then the cmos/Mobo battery. Cut the power switch on the psu back on, hit the front panel power switch a time or two (to drain any stored power)then all back off, battery back in, cord in PSU and switch on and cut it back on and it will want me to go into bios to set the time and date and I usually change my settings back default except the few important ones and it's good. I'm not sure what's causing mine but I think I have decided not to try anymore overclocking since the performance to risk/hassle doesn't seem worth it.

How do you update your BIOS? With a compatible CPU.
A *very* quick Google search finds an Athlon II X2 215 for <$10. That's compatible.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Athlon-II-X2-215-ADX2150CK22GQ-2-7-GHz-AM3-CPU-Processor-/112566805866?hash=item1a3581256a:g:g0UAAOSwwVpZvirC

Whether that makes a whole lot of sense is entirely your call.
