Alright, so here's my story summed up.
I'm taking over my dads laptop, he forgot the password to it but still need whatever is on the SSD.
After trying to get past the password screen I'm pretty sure my last chance is to take out the SSD and try to connect it to my old laptop as a USB device.
Now I have a msata SSD to USB adapter thingy but my pc doesn't seem to recognize it as anything. It has a blue light, which i think indicates that it's being used.
In disk manager there's nothing to be found there either.

Could you lads please help me?

Hi

Since it is a Windows Password it should be possible to reset it, but forum rules prevent us telling you how to do it yourself

I recently got an adaptor for a mSATA card to fit inside a 2.5" tray with a standard SATA power & data connectors.
The mSATA card was dead and had to be replaced.

Is your USB adapter plugged into a USB 2 or USB 3 socket ?
It should show up in Device Manager first.

Once the device drive problem is fixed it should show up in Disk Management where a drive letter can be issued and then Windows Explore can see the files on the disk.

Jesus christ leave it to you people to make a big issue out of it. Its my dads, he forgot the password but i have access to the account attached to it. Yes its being weird so weird not even microsoft knows whats up

Hi

Is this the bios power on password?
Or a hard disk password (stored on hard disk) ?
Or worse still an encrypted hard disk with a password?

I know you said a mSSD but same principles apply

Only if bios password to prevent pc booting up is there any chance of recovery of data when disk is put in another pc

If hard disk ata password you have option of ata low level format which destroys all data and clears password and allows re use of disk

On some 3.5" hard disks the ata password can be read by experts using special equipment and software

Or maybe the ssd has died and is unreadable
