Hey guys. I've started having some problems with my PC two days ago. Two days ago, my monitor gave me the "No Signal" error all of a sudden when I turned my PC on. So I thought maybe it was my DVI cable, graphic card or monitor that was faulty. Long story short that wasn't the case. I tried different cables and monitors, tried unplugging my graphic card but those didn't help at all.

So I pondered about what might be the problem. And I've noticed a ticking sound that I didn't notice before.

Here's a video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAb0sB4va1g&feature=youtu.be

Note that I don't own the video but it's the exact same ticking sound.

I tried to pinpoint where that sound comes from but I couldn't. But while I tried to pinpoint the origin of these sounds, I've found a workaround to my problem. It turns out unplugging and plugging back my RAMs to their respective slots lets my PC boot and work normally. But the thing is, after shutting down my PC same issue occours again. My PC doesn't boot up properly and resets itself a few time till it makes that ticking sound and when that happens I get "no signal" error on my monitor. Unplugging and plugging back my RAMs make me use my PC without any problems untill I turn my PC off again. A weird thing to note, "restarting" works fine. But turning my PC off and on doesn't, as I explained before.

I tried plugging a RAM at a time and plugging those RAMs to different slots. Same thing happened. My PC starts up normally when I unplug and plug the RAM(s) but shutting off the PC makes the problem come back.

My specs are:
MOBO: GIGABYTE Z97X-Gaming 5
RAM: ADATA USA XPG V1.0 OC Series 16GB (8x2)
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2
Graphic Card: GEVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB FTW
CPU: Intel i5-4690

Thanks in advance.

Edit:

So, I've tried CMOS reset. It didn't help.
I changed BIOS settings and set memory settings manually, it didn't help.
I thought maybe it's due to how Windows handle the shutting down process and shut down the PC while I'm in BIOS, it didn't help.

I'm really frustrated. I would really appreciate some help.

Please try something...

What happens if you dont unplug your RAM's but unplug the powersupply.... then press the startbutton on the computer sometimes so that the power is completely gone...

Then plug it back in and try to start it up...

Does it then start or does it again start clicking?

Hello Memphisto, I kindly thank you for your answer.

I tried what you said but it didn't help. It makes the clicking sound. On the bright sight, I identified what is it that makes that sound. It's MOBO's speaker, I at least confirmed that.

I see. Thanks for letting me know Memphisto. I'm not sure how to reset CMOS, so I will try to do it tomorrow.

If anyone else has any idea what may be the reason of this weird problem, please let me know. This is kind of frustrating.

I have the same Mobo. and the same problem started last week I replaced some of the ram thinking it was a ram problem. but nope just popping a ram in and out lets the bios boot up. Did you ever find a permanent fix?
