(TL;DR and Specs at the bottom)
INTRO:
Hi,
I purchased a Mushkin Enhanced Reactor 2.5" 1TB MKNSSDRE1TB on October 3rd 2016.
The first few weeks was perfect, I installed many games on it (around 500GB) and many VMs too. Then, suddently, the SSD would "crash" when rebooting Windows.
By that, I mean that Windows would boot extremely slowly (even if it is not the boot drive, see specs below) and when I would finally get to the desktop, the Mushking 1TB would not appear anywhere (not even in Disk Management).
At first I thought the SSD was dead but I decided to unplug the SATA + Power, turn off the PSU, hold the power button for 30 seconds, plug back the SSD and now everything would work just fine.
MAIN ISSUE:
Since October, I would say it happened around 4-5 times (unplug & replug the SSD).
But last night (September 06 ,2017), I was doing a Disk Image of 25GB from my C: drive to my Mushkin 1TB (Using R-Drive bootable tool) (Source: C: 960 Evo, Destination: X:Mushkin) and it crashed at around 80% saying "Could not access X: Drive, try again".
I said to myself "I'll unplug and replug like usual..." but even after unplugging and replugging, the drive was neither detected in Windows 7 or Windows 10.
Windows was saying that I needed to Repair the Disk Now using a pop-up box on my screen.
TRIED SO FAR:
Of course, I clicked "Repair" but nothing happened. My windows was, again, extremely slow. I opened Disk management and my SSD was not even listed(not even as RAW).
I'm trying to avoid losing 800GB of Data (Games, VMs & other small files) but windows keeps asking me to Format the drive in order to access it.
I then took the 1TB drive, used an External enclosure (SATA to USB3.0 from ORICO) and plugged it into my laptop. I started the laptop and, again, booting windows was extremely slow (windows 10). The windows logo stays with the loading circle under it for a good minute or so (same for windows 7 with the moving logo). And windows 10 on a entire different computer was also slowed down and asked to Format the drive.
CHKDSK:
When I try to use CHKDSK in Admin or not, the drive is not accessible even with the option /f
DISK PART:
Same thing for Disk part, the drive doesn't show up in "List Disk"
TL;DR:
- Non-OS SSD kept crashing and affecting the Boot drives responsiveness
- Unplug & Replug would fix the issue temporarely
- Unplugging and replugging does not work anymore, windows ask to format the drive to access it
- Tried many different SATA Ports
- Tried USB To SATA on a different computer (laptop)
- Tried Bootable Linux + Gparted (still very slow)
- Could not find Firmware updates for the Reactor Model (only ECO2)
- DISKPART & CHKDSK fails to find the drive
General Specs:
THANK YOU !
