Where can I get these drivers? Mobo update did nothing to fix it.

Sorry I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this. So I recently installed a new mobo, the ASUS PRIME Z270-A and did a bios update.

my mouse's ability to scroll hasn't been working and none of my chassis USB ports have any functionality. I tried updating my Windows 7 all the way but it still can't find these drivers. (I'll link the drivers in a picture below) should I update to windows 10 to solve this? Or is there somewhere online I can find these drivers and fix the usb's and my mouse.

as you can see it's telling me these drivers were not successfully installed

That I can't tell you edrim. Contact ASUS and ask for a direct DL link. They may have a glitch, or it may be a scripting error for your browser (I know it doesn't come up in IE, and I'm not installing Chrome to check). It could also be a conflict with 3rd party security software, but if you did a fresh install of windows I don't see how since that shouldn't be on there yet.

Would it be under memory/device support? I was looking there and I downloaded the BIOS firmware update but nothing else yet.

Chipset drives installed ?

They should all be on the MoBo CD ... see step 5 - 7 for win install


1. Prepare for Windows installation with USB tool or use available media
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

2. Connect boot drive data cable to lowest numbered SATA port .... but don't connect:
-Ethernet cable
-SATA Data Cable for any other drives

3. Install Windows to boot drive

4. Turn off Windows ability to install Hardware drivers

5. Install all hardware drivers from original media in boxes See Item 7 below

6. Connect ethernet cable and run Windows Update till it stops doing anything

7. Install latest drivers for ALL hardware from manufacturers web sites. The reason we didn't do this in step 5 is 3 fold:
-Sometimes MoBo CD comes with licensed utilities with product key embedded and these are not on web site versions
-Its advisable to establish a working out of box conditions
-Sometimes newer drivers require latest Windows Updates

If you have a 2nd drive ....

8. Shut down and connect HD data cable to 2nd lowest numbered SATA port.

9. Boot to BIOS and make sure that SSD is the 1st boot device, if not fix it

10. Boot to Windows

Have to ask, what CPU you are using on this board?

Per Asus's information on their site:

Windows® 8.1 64-bit and Windows® 7 32/64-bit are only supported when using 6th Generation Intel® Processors

Windows 7 does not support USB 3 natively, thus needs drivers.
The only USB 2 ports listed are from the board. All the back connectors appear to be USB 3.x Catch-22 if you are trying to use a mouse/kb to access and install driver packages.

Did you get a driver/utility DVD with your motherboard?

Writing ASUS support is probably your safest bet if not

I see the necessary items listed at station-drivers, but can't vouch for the site. It might give you a list of driver packages to DL and who to get them from (Intel, realtek, etc)


The PDF on the ASUS site lists how to create install media for windows 7 on a USB and using their DVD for the necessary drivers during OS install as well if doing a fresh OS install

I tried putting the CD/DVD in my DVD RW drive but nothing happend. I'll read through this info you posted, hopefully I can fix these issues. Idk why my mouse scroll won't work but it works perfectly fine in the BIOS

You will get better native support with Windows 10, but that's a personal decision.

No idea if autoplay is on your drivers package DVD. You may have to go in manually to install theml, either by clicking on executables if that's what ASUS gave you on the CD, or device manager if they only gave you INFs

Yea it says autoplay is on the dvd but for some reason nothing loads in my DVD RW drive when I put the DVD they gave me in it. It looks like it's trying to load something but then nothing ends up happening. Can't right click to view the contents either.

I really don't know what's going on with these drivers, I guess I should contact ASUS and see if they can help me here. Or if all else fails I'll just get windows 10 and/or return the MoBo and buy the same model I had last time that didn't give me these kinds of issues.

I don't know what's causing these issues or why the drivers can't install, maybe it had something to do with installing 3 different MoBo's in the past year.

Do you know where I can get those drivers though for windows 7? I just plugged my mouse into the other USB ports and it works on all of them but for some reason USB thumb drives don't respond and my mouse won't scroll at all.

If you are absolutely determined to stay on Windows 7:

My first recommendation would be use windows explorer and go through your drivers / utility DVD that came with your motherboard.

2nd would be contact ASUS support to see if they can give you a direct link to DL them.

Lastly would be a driver aggregation site. I did list one above (station-drivers.com ) . I can't personally vouch for the site however, as I DL from the manufacturers. They do list the required drivers and give DL links. Putting the site and ASUS PRIME Z270-A into google search gives you a link. You'll have to select your language upon hitting the page however, the default appears to be French?

Why are no drivers listed for my MoBo on the ASUS site? I don't get it. The Prime z270-a is suppose to be one of the most popular boards out there. How am I one of the very few people to have this issue???
